The Truth About Kristin Cavallari And Jay Cutler’s Relationship

Kristin Cavallari and Jay Cutler are calling it quits. “With great sadness, after 10 years together we have come to a loving conclusion to get a divorce,” Cavallari wrote on Instagram on April 26.

While difficult for the couple, the split seems to be an amicable one. “We have nothing but love and respect for one another and are deeply grateful for the years shared, memories made, and the children we are so proud of,” Cavallari continued. “This is just the situation of two people growing apart. We ask everyone to respect our privacy as we navigate this difficult time within our family.”

Per E! News, the couple got engaged in November 2011 and tied the knot in 2013. The news of their divorce comes just weeks ahead of what would have been their seventh wedding anniversary on June 8 (via E! News).

What went wrong between Kristin Cavallari and Jay Cutler?

A source told E! News that the split largely came about because the Very Cavallari star didn’t feel that Cutler was supportive enough of her career. According to the source, the couple had gone to therapy to try to work out their differences before ultimately deciding to end their marriage. “The issues were ongoing for a long time,” the source said. “Things weren’t improving. They both wanted the marriage to work.”

“This was a buildup and a long time coming,” another source told the outlet. “It wasn’t a sudden decision and they have known for a while that things were headed in this direction.”

Kristin Cavallari and Jay Cutler have three children together

Cavallari and Cutler have three children: Camden Jack, Jaxon Wyatt, and Saylor James. The couple are determined to co-parent and, according to the E! News sources, intend to remain friends so that they can put their kids first. They are currently staying at their Nashville home together with their children.

ET, however, reported that a custody battle may already brewing and that Cavallari requested primary custody in the divorce papers. “Kristin and Jay planned to keep everything amicable, but that’s not the case anymore,” said a source. “Kristin filing for primary physical custody upset Jay. He loves his children more than anything and thinks the couple should be reasonable and split custody.”

The source added, “Kristin has made comments about possibly moving back to L.A., which is also a concern of Jay’s, as home for the family is currently Nashville.”
